What Do the Stars and Skies Tell About Life
Have you ever wondered why stars are made? Have you ever think what can stars contribute to our life? Can stars help us improve our life?
Stars are one of the many heavenly bodies in the universe. Stars are big balls of hot gases composed of hydrogen and helium. Even though stars are far away on us, we can still see them in the sky.
Sky is the wide, blue space that we can see above, in the atmosphere. Sky is where clouds are located. Even though these things are just everywhere and anywhere, these can also contribute to the lives of our people. These things can help become dedicated and determined in doing our works. They can also be our inspirations on doing our work. When we think about stars and skies, we feel free and happy. When some people feel down or embarrassed, they used to watch on stars and skies rather than to be alone in a very isolated place. For me, stars and skies can help predict our future life. I know that stars and skies can easily recognize our destiny or our fate in our life. Stars and skies can tell about something in our life. They can tell something special or embarrassing about our life.
Stars and skies can tell something about our life. Maybe, these can tell our future life, our love life, our unfortunate life, or anything. For me, stars and skies can tell about my life. I do not know if it is my love life or my business life or my social life. I knew it that stars and skies can tell something about our life. Every star tells a life of a person. According to what I have observed, stars can tell about my school life because when I look at the stars and in the sky, I feel free and I feel awake to study my lessons because sometimes I feel tired when studying my lessons. During nighttime while studying, I felt sleepy but when I look at the stars and at the night sky, I feel awake and alive and I feel dedicated on studying my lessons.
During afternoon in the UP Campus, when I am studying, I feel bored when studying and I feel like to rest than studying my lessons but when I look at the beautiful and cloudy sky, as what I have stated on the last paragraphs, I feel determined on getting good grade and I feel tireless. In this way, stars and the sky became one of my inspirations instead of my hardworking parents.
I know that not only I feel the same thing. I know that some students have already figured out the good effects of the stars and skies. I know that some students used these as their inspirations to become dedicated in their studies. By this way, students can use this kind of habit in order to improve their study skills and their concentration in studying their lessons.

Intramurals 2006
Intramurals 2006
Have you experience an Intramurals in your school? Do you like this event or you get bored on this event? I want you to share my first time experience on this Intramurals event.
Last year, the UP high school was celebrating this Intramurals event on November 27, 28, and 29, 2006. I was interested and excited about this event because it was my first time to experience this Intramurals. In this event, you should have to enter a sport, 2 major- 1 minor, 2 minor-1 major, 3 major or 3 minor sports. In this event will test your skills and abilities and that particular event. The sports that I would like to were Volleyball and Soccer. I chose these 2 sports because I think it could make me improve my skills. When I played Volleyball, I was not happy because one of my teammates was very mad on us and because of this situation I get bored on playing this game. After playing, our team got lost on the game so we were sad about this. When our game was over, I rested for a while and played with my classmates. I also helped classmates to catch some prisoners for our booth and our room serves as the cell. The prisoners were not allowed to go outside but they were allowed to communicate to their classmates through the window and they can only go outside when their time was over. Only the Bartlett students were allowed to inside the room. The booth will be stopped only during lunch break because those who where in-charge in the booth were still eating their lunch. When I was vacant on 10:00 am and I have no game to be played, instead of waiting until lunch break, I ate my lunch together with the prisoners and when the bell rang, the prisoners were happy because they were now free. I ate my lunch ahead of time because I have something to do in the internet café. When the game of volleyball started between the First year girls and Fourth year girls, I know that we only got a little chance because most of our girls don’t have much learning and ability in playing this game but even though our team were losing in the game, I am still cheering in them and I still hope that we would win but even though they lose, I am still happy because it is just a game and I don’t mind if we win or we lose. After their game, I asked them if they were all okay, and they replied that they were just fine.
During the soccer game, I was not also happy because one of my teammates, our team captain, does not want me to join the game in our first play, at that time I was so angry on him. He was also a “buaya” in the game. He assigned to his members their positions in the game but he does not even pass the ball to his teammates. When he called me to enter the field, I am a little bit happy at least I have entered the field and I know that he was not going to pass the ball. When the game started, my mind was not concentrating on our game but I was happy watching the game of others even though the other team was going to make a goal, but I was not concerned on our game. When I played the game, I did not do my best and I exerted less force than our friendly game.
Now this Intramurals 2007, I am not going to join the Soccer game even they request me to join on it. This year’s Intramurals I will really chose the game that I will be enjoying to me.

Family Day 2006
Family Day 2006
Have you experienced a Family Day? Do you find exciting or do you feel happy or bored when you hear this occasion. I know that when we hear about Family Day, we feel happy and excited about this event and that is what I feel when I have it but when the occasion started, I find boring and tiresome. Here is my story about my experience in our Family Day inside the UP Campus.
Our school was celebrating the Family Day once a year. This occasion was celebrated with the students together with their family members on last February 25, 2007, Sunday. In this occasion, you should be happy celebrating this event together with your family members. There were a lot of games, surprises, foods and many more.
On February 24, 2007, Saturday, a day before the Family Day, all 1st year Bartlett students were assigned to help their parents and their adviser in decorating their tents. All of us prepared and decorated our tents very well just to beautify our tents.
Before the Family Day started, a mass was held in the open stage. While the mass was going on suddenly there started a rain and the priest and some 4th year students evacuated to a safer place for them to protect against the rain. After the mass was ended, a Phil. Demo was held and each year level must perform on the Phil. Demo. When the first year students were going to perform, some our parents went near to us to see our performances and to some pictures while dancing. At that time, I was out of my concentration because my father and some of my siblings laughing at me while I am dancing. After our performance, my father directly went to me and teased me that I dance like that and like this and he also made some fools on me but I just don’t mind his foolishness. After the Phil. Demo, it the most awaited part of the day and it is the “EATING TIME”. Some parents of the Bartlett students brought some extra foods for them to share to each other. All of us ate happily and peacefully together with their family members. After eating, some of us were resting and some were preparing for the games. Before the games started, Madam was delivering a speech and she was saying her speech, she was crying because this year is her last year here in the UP and a lot of parents are touched to her speeches. After the resting time, they already started the games. At that moment, people are getting to be tired and I saw some parents together with the students going back to their home. At that time the game started and I have saw a lot people going home and that time also, I also feel bored except on my brothers and my sister who were busy playing. After sometime, my little sister got tired and she felt asleep but my youngest brother was busy doing something on the stage while my other brother was happy watching the game together with my father. I think most people got tired and bored on the show and some people and the players were the ones who were enjoying the game. When I really got tired and bored on the show, I asked my father to just go home instead of waiting for the time to end the occasion but my father only waited for the raffle draw but I said to him that we only got a little chance for us to win the raffle draw like in the Athletics Nights. So my father just decided to go home instead of waiting for the raffle draw.
For me, that is my first time to experience the boring Family Day, so I hope that in next year the Family Day will be more exciting to us.

On Being Taught By Students
Being Taught By Students
Have ever experienced to be taught by a student? Have you ever experienced being taught by your classmate? If you are given a chance to teach your classmates, would you accept this kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity? For me, probably I would accept this once in a lifetime opportunity. I think this would be a pride for my part but I do not know if others would like this opportunity. I think, this would be an exciting event for me.
Last month, on February, a KYDS Events was been held. This event was a chance for teachers and other faculty members to rest in about three school days but that is not the most interesting part of this event but it is because students are the ones who replaced the teachers. They are the ones who teach their own classmates. But before they become one of the teachers, they must apply to the teacher they want to replace. If they want to teach Science A or Science B, they must apply to Madam Gallo and if they want to teach English, they should apply to Sir Montejo to become an English teacher.
A lot of students applied to different subject teachers and some students applied on the principal to become the principal of the campus. Some wanted to become the guidance councilor, the clerk and some wanted to become a computer attendant or a librarian. During the application, I applied to become a computer attendant. I thought that I am the only one who applied for this position but some of my classmates also applied on this position. Because of this event, students become busy after the class hours and they have been running here to there.
At that time, I was not able to apply because they said that the position of a Computer Attendant was already taken. When the Science A applicants were going to teach us, I already feel excited to see their performance. When they have already performed their duties, I was very pleased to saw their excellent performances. I was very happy on the intelligence and the confidence they have possessed, by these things, these shows that they really performed good during their discussion. During the second lecturer, I was very surprised because I did not expect to see one of my naughty classmates to be one of the student teachers in Social Science. But despite of his naughty attitude, he performed a good job on his part. After the excellent performances of the student teachers, the subject teachers were very much impressive on the performances of the students. After the day of their teaching to us they were awarded. Some student teachers become the best Science A teachers among the first year students and some become the best teachers of the different subjects on different year levels. Some students also became the best principal, best guidance councilor, the best clerk or the best librarian.
This kind of opportunity was a once in a lifetime chance only so you must not take for granted this kind of opportunity because as what we all know “Opportunity Knocks only Ones”

Love Affair with MV Doulos and Books
Love Affair with MV Doulos and Books
Have you already seen a floating library? Have you been inside a floating library?
I just want you to share my first experience in visiting the floating library or the MV Doulos.
Last February 12, 2007, the faculty gave us circulars about the MV Doulos, it stated that all First years and Second years will visit the MV Doulos on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 from 1:00-5:00 pm and all Third years and Fourth years will visit it on Thursday, February 15, 2007 from 1:00-5:00 pm. It also stated that all students should wear Intrams T-shirt, pants, closed shoes, and our school ID. We should also be provided with an extra fare. We were also paying our fare in our private service of 15 pesos. After our lunch break, I immediately prepared all the things I needed in the trip to MV Doulos. I settled myself in going to MV Doulos. When our private service arrived, we immediately get inside in the jeepney, together with Mr. Elmer Montejo. While going to the MV Doulos, we were talking and playing to each when one of my classmates suggested a song that should be sung by Mr. Elmer but he suggested the song “Chuvalernz, Chuvalernz”. While going to Doulos, we where singing “Chuvalernz, Chuvalernz” led by Mr. Elmer and all of us where happy on the trip.
When we arrived at the MV Doulos, I was so excited to see all the books inside the ship. We formed a line in going inside the Doulos ship and when I got inside the ship, I was so amazed on all the books inside the ship. It stated there that there were almost 6,000 books inside the ship and their were also different crews from different countries. I read a lot of books and they also sell some CD’s and tapes of songs. Inside the ship, they also sell some foods and snacks and I would like to buy a cookie but their cookies were all sold out so I just ate the ice cream which cost 30 peso. Their ice cream was very expensive but it really tasted good. When I saw the note and read it, I was shocked because if you were going outside, you never enter again. So I have lost my chance to buy just only one book in the MV Doulos. So all of my extra time was only spent to nothing and I just walked along the ship together with my classmates. After sometime we were all called to go out from book shop. I thought our trip in the MV Doulos was over but that’s not all. We were all called to go out the book shop because we were going to the Conference Room to watch a little presentation about the MV Doulos, its history, and its facts.
On the Conference Room, one crew of the MV Doulos, Felipe, serves as a host for us. He finds some 3 brave volunteers to come in front. In the UP, there were 2 representatives and 1 representative from the ALC; he asked some questions to the representatives. At the next game, again he asked some 2 brave volunteers to come in front. We have 1 representative and they also have 1 representative. They are asked to wear the suit, the life jacket, the helmet and the gloves and after wearing these, they must go near the gong and strike on it. After the game, all of were now going back to our campus. When we went down the ship, our services has arrived except for ours, we waited for a long to time. While waiting, Sir Elmer takes us a picture then after we played. After a long time, at last our service has arrived.
While going back to our school, almost all of my classmates were knockdown and they were asleep. All of us where tired on our trip to Doulos but it is still enjoying. I hope I can come back in that ship again.

My Overnight
My Overnight
Have you ever experience an overnight inside your school campus? Do you find it fun or boring? Do you feel happy or sleepy during this kind of event? You know, I just want you to share my experience during my first overnight inside our school campus.
During our Science class on February 8, 2007, Ate Theresa announced to all First year Bartlett that there will be an overnight for all stargazers and non-stargazers on February 9, 2007 from 7:00pm to 6:00 am together with Mr. Go. At that moment, I was very happy because it was my first time to experience an overnight. I joyfully went home. When I arrived at my, I directly finished my assignment then after it, I waited for my father to ask permission. When father arrived, I directly ask permission to my father that I would like to join the overnight. At my first attempt in asking permission, he does not want me to join the activity and besides I will have a problem in my schedule. I was really in despair.
On February 9, 2007, I arrived in the school sad with a sad face. I was very sad because it was my first time to experience and overnight and I have missed that chance in my life and if I joined this activity, their will be a problem in my schedule because their will be a make-up class in Computer on Saturday, February 10, 2007 from 8:00am to 10:00 am and I cannot go home because our house is in Consolacion and I think it takes 2 hours to travel in there.
When I arrived at home, I tried my second attempt to ask permission, at that time, my father allowed me to join the activity. I was happy but it was too late because I forgot to copy the things to be brought in the overnight ahead of time. So I just think what things should be brought in an overnight? Hmm… I think a mat, a pillow, a blanket, an extra shirt and a 100 peso bill would be needed in the overnight. So after I studied my lessons, I directly prepared the things I needed in the overnight. In the morning at the school, I cheerfully participated in the class then after classes, my father delivered my things and he gave me the 100 peso bill. But before the overnight, I first ate my dinner because when the overnight started, you are not allowed to go out the school campus.
During 7:00pm, the overnight started and I was very excited, we combined all our mats. Then we talked to each other happily. When Madam Gallo arrived, she told us to go to the LEADER for some discussions of Mr. Go. After the discussion, Madam Gallo called us to help her fixed the telescope and to gazed the night sky. Instead of gazing the sky, we just talked and played to each other and the other year levels watched the movie in the LEADER. I just played with my classmates and made some funny jokes. After playing and talking to each other, my other classmates where knockdown. After sometime, I got asleep too except for Paolo and Gerardo who where both noisy. I thought those to have no plans of sleeping early. Most of my classmates slept early because their will be a make-up class in Computer.
On February 10, 2007 in the morning, I gladly woke up and I directly brushed my teeth and washed my face together with Paolo. When my other classmate has already waked, I greeted them in the morning. That was really a nice overnight for me.

Life as a Teen
Life as a Teen
Our life is too short. Time is so quick. That is why in just days, weeks, and months I’m already in first year high school. Life in teenager is difficult but fun for me.
Do you know why I can say it is a difficult life, because you have to wake up early in the morning, eat your breakfast, wear up your clothes, and you have to be prepared in going to school. Then you will walk into the dark road during the dawn. You know everyday I sleep 9:00 in the evening and wake up 5:00 in the morning. You must have a good performance in your academic subjects by working on your assignments and projects. You don’t need to be lazy student and you have no time to play with your friends. First, you must stop on playing computer games and on your friends during school days because you have to pass your assignments and projects on time if you don’t want to have deductions on your scores. So you must sacrifice your free time or your play time and to sleep late in the evening only to work on your assignments and projects. In the school campus, the rules are very strict and you must follow those rules and regulations in the campus or else, you will commit a violation. If you commit a violation, you will have a deduction on your grades. You know, I always do these things everyday. For me, a life of a teenager is really a difficult life.
But even though I perform these tasks daily, I can still have some fun time only during weekends and summer days. Sometimes, I just step aside on my assignments, only those easy assignments only to watch T.V. with my favorite movie together with my family. Sometimes, during Saturdays and Sundays, I always ask permission to my parents to play internet games on the internet café. I used to work on my own PowerPoint presentation and make some slide shows to myself and my siblings. I play with my family members and my friends. Sometimes I can have bonding with my family by going to SM or having a picnic in the Family Park or eating in our house with binignit or in somewhere else like in Jollier, Food court, or in the Food land. During school days inside the campus, sometimes I talk with my classmates and greet my school mates. Even though I do not know them, I just greet them Hi! Ate or Hello! Kuya and that’s all. During lunch time, I eat my lunch together with some of my classmates and have some talking sessions. After the classes, we clean the room and again we have some talks with my classmates.
Even though these are only small deeds, it gives my life a big change or a big cause; it also makes me feel proud on what I am now or on what I am for. Even if I have this life, it does not make me feel bad or feel down not like the other teenagers who easily feel bad because they did not finished their studies and instead, they choose to have a bad life. They like joining in fraternities and gangs, taking and selling some illegal drugs and fake medicines. They are not afraid if their parents would be angry in them because their parents are the ones who teach them these different kinds of illegal activities like snatching, kidnapping, car napping, robbery or even murder.
